Diagnosis and Maintenance of Automatic Transmission With Malfunction(Ⅱ)

We have mentioned the three mainly malfunctions including planetary gear system failure, slippery and the problems in engine parts, there are other symptoms that need to be noted.

1. Transmission overheating is due to poor heat radiator in water tank. The high water temperature, coupled with air conditioning load, water scale, and some vehicles can produce a lot of heat due to torque converter problems, all that ultimately lead to transmission overheating and affect the internal lubrication system, resulting in transmission burnout. In this case the ATF radiator and the water tank should be rinsed after car repair. It is recommended that the water tank be replaced once every 150,000 km.

2.The ATF oil and gear oil occur leakage, these oils of different viscosity mixed together, causing problems include: gearbox shift problems; up-shift speed delay (such as 3-5 gear), the engine is shifted only at high speed; the temperature of ATF oil rises. This leakage is caused by damage to the lips of the oil seal, the transmission has two overflow holes, the oil seal should be replaced once the oil spilled.

3.Dashboard indicators are full-bright, appearing red screen and other phenomena, possible reasons include the lock of gearbox shift blocks, gear switch failure, TCU failure, line fault and electrical parts are wet and so on. Read more...
