Automotive gearbox gear is to withstand external load relying on its structural size and material strength, which requires the material with high strength, toughness and wear resistance. Due to the complexity of gear shape, it requires high gear accuracy, and good technology to the material.

Why is the car transmission gear made of the carburized steel? When under the same power transmission, the carburized steel gear can be reduced by about 30% of the capacity or weight comparing to quenched steel gear, the gearbox gear bearing impact and wear resistance is 40% higher than of the quenched and tempered gear, its accuracy is also far higher than the quenched and tempered gear (6-5 class of DIN standards), as well as having the stable running and low noise.

What’s the carburized steel? It usually refers to the steel used after carburizing, quenching and tempering. It is known as carbon carburized steel and alloy carburized steel. Many machine parts such as car or tractor gearbox gear, shift forks, internal combustion engine cams, piston pin and some measuring tools, are made of carburized steel.
