If the manual transmission is classified in accordance with the gear transmission modes, there are normally two kinds of two-axis and three-axis.

Two-axis

As the name implies, two-axis manual transmission has two axes are the input and output shafts. It has advantages of simple structure and small size, while intermediate gear transmission of high efficiency and less noise, and therefore it is more suitable for general front-engine and front-wheel drive vehicle, which is currently the most widely used mode of car transmission.

Three-axis

Manual transmission of three shafts includes input shaft, output shaft and the additional intermediate shaft. The intermediate shaft is fixedly mounted to the main variable speed gear of each gear. As each is driven by two pairs of gears, the rotation directions of the input shaft and output shaft are the same. This transmission is usually more suitable for front-engine and rear-wheel drive vehicles.
