9 Design standards of Automotive Connectors

With the rapid development of automobile industry, the various parts of the car have become constantly intelligent, refined and reliability. The higher requirements of the car connector design, appearance design and materials have been put forward as well.

Automotive Connectors must meet USCAR-20 standard, which is the performance standard of automotive electrical connector systems. The provisions of automotive connectors provides the contact surfaces of an electrical connector throughout the life cycle should always be reliable, and including the following factors:

1. The material of a connector contacts is stable and reliable.

2. Positive force are stable.

3. The voltage and current of circuit are stable.

4. The temperature should be within the specified range, including ambient temperature and its own temperature.

5. The better robustness.

6.  Automotive connectors must be able to work reliably in harsh conditions, with the same as connector used in high-speed long-distance communication computer.

7. Connector insertion force : less than 20.5kg.

8. Connector retention force: more than 2.5kg or more.

9. Heat resistance: -40 ~ 120 ℃.
