How Does Gearbox Shift Fork Work in the Gear Shifting?

Source: http://www.yonglingcn.com   Time: 2017-06-16 Hits:0

When a driver pushes the shift lever in the gear shifting, the V-shaped groove on the aluminum gearbox shift fork overcomes the force from the self-locking steel ball, to push out the self-locking steel ball, so to force the gearbox shift fork moving. The shift fork keeps moving forward until the self-locking ball rolls to the next V-shaped groove, it is automatically pressed into the groove under the action of the self-locking spring, causing an impact to the shift lever, which gives the driver a feeling that he/she has shifted the lever into the gears completely, then the driver loosens the shift lever.

When the shifting is completed, the self-locking steel ball is just into the automotive gearbox shift forks positioning slot, playing the role of positioning, forcing the ring gear or gear teeth-wide meshing. At the same time, if there is no large axial force to push the shift fork, it will maintain the original position by the force from the self-locking ball and not slip-off.
