What Is the Gear Processing Process?

The gearbox gear processing process includes gear blank machining, tooth surface machining, heat treatment process, and tooth surface finishing.

1. The rough parts of gears such like automotive shift forks are mainly forgings, bar stocks or castings, of which the forgings are used most. The raw material is first normalized to improve the cutting type for easy cutting;

2. Rough machining is performed, with the gear design, the blank is first processed into a rough shape to retain the excess amount;

3. Semi-finishing, use car, roll, pinion processes to form the basic gear shape;

4. Heat treatment of the gears is to improve their mechanical properties, in accordance with the use requirements and the different materials, it includes tempering, carburizing and quenching, teeth surface high-frequency induction, heating and quenching, etc.;

5. The final processing is finishing gears, such as finishing gear teeth of automotive shift forks.
